Recalling My Past and Future Lives 2022

Farmed organically at Terrace Vineyard in Kaleden. South facing rows planted with Merlot and Gewurztraminer using the ‘Geneva Double Curtain’ trellising system to keep everything shaded and higher off the ground. The soil is made up of sandy loam, with a giant gravel bar that runs through the top of the vineyard where the Merlot is planted. Lots of large stones that keep heat reflected onto the vines. The vineyard overlooks Skaha Lake which creates a moderating effect which keeps the temperatures generally consistent. Both the Merlot and the Gewurztraminer were harvested on the same day from Terrace Vineyard making this a single vineyard co-ferment. Both varieties were destemmed together and then layered in a stainless steel tank. The fruit was co-fermented together with ambient yeast from the vineyard and cellar. After a 14 day maceration, it was pressed into neutral oak barrels to age on lees for 6 months. 25ppm of sulphur was added post malolactic fermentation, then it was bottled unfined and unfiltered in late March.
